he Gale online databases can be divided into three groups:
1.
Interdisciplinary databases with full text from journals and newspapers:
a) InfoTrac OneFile
b) Expanded Academic ASAP
c) Custom Journals
d) Custom Newspapers
a) InfoTrac OneFile
Gale's largest journals database with in total around 21 million entries,
with 7,800 journal titles (number of titles increases continuously), whereof
4,200 titles are in full text; a 20 years backfile; covers also general
interest magazines, some newspapers and newswire services.
b) Expanded Academic ASAP
Gale's journal database with only academic titles, in total 3,100 journal
titles (number of titles increases continuously), whereof 1,900 titles are
in full text, a 20 years backfile.
a) and b) Gale and Ingenta are joining forces to create a new service
that allows researchers and librians to use a single search to access online
journals held by both Ingenta and Gale. Ingenta's more than 5,400 scholarly
and academic electronic journals are integrated within Gale's signature
search framework: InfoTrac. For example, InfoTrac OneFile, which already
includes over 4,200 full text titles, could expand to nearly 10,000 full
text titles - the scope of publications is simply sensational and
unrivalled, the biggest electronic journal database, and especially full
text journal database on the market at the time being. Total periodical
counts depend in the number of Ingenta subscriptions the library holds.
However, the pay-per-view option offered by Ingenta will also allow users to
buy individual electronic articles when the library doesn't hold a
subscription.

b) and d) Custom Journals and Custom Newspapers
These are so-called "customizable" databases offering the possibility for
the subscribing library, institution to select titles from a large title
list. A further flexibility is the fact that you can change titles during
the subscription period within the fixed number of titles you have decided
for.
Custom Journals: a title pool of around 5,000 journals
Custom Newspapers: a selection of 120 international newspapers (all English
language, mainly from the US and the UK, some Australian, Asian newspapers).
A prospectus and a title list is enclosed.

Various databases on the subject economical sciences (e.g. General Business
File, Investtext Plus, Investtext Select, PROMT and the RDS databases taking
over from Responsive Database Services)
Several databases on literature (e.g. Contemporary Authors, Contemporary
Literary Criticism Select, Dictionary of Literary Biography)
(They are all mentioned in the enclsoed catalogue.)

Electronic Resource Centers:
They do also represent databases on specific subjects, but they are
different because of their content from various sources, that's the reason
why we regard them as a third group.
Electronic Resource Centers - the integrated information sources - offering
the bst content in a single search!
The foundations of an invaluable information collection have always been
full-text periodicals, award-winning reference sources and primary source
documents. Our web-based Resource Centers bring all this information
together in a single site - making it easy for the user to find the
information he needs just in a single subscription, in a single search. The
Resource Centers make it simple for the information users to find
inforaamtion about business, people, history, literary masterpieces, history
and more.

The History Resource Center offers a very interesting and attractive link to
the well-known ABC-Clio content (Historical Abstracts and America: History
and Life) - using this link customer need to subscribe to both.
A further very interesting, attractive and comfortable integrated link is
offered with the Literature Resource Center (LRC), the link to the MLA (the
number one bibliography for literature); means in practise, subscribing to
LRC and MLA through Saur/Gale offers to search in both databases
simultaneously under one interface.

Last but not least some short note on the features of the Gale databases:
Access is either possible with username and password or with IP
authentication. We offer remote patron access, means access from outside the
campus for people having a authentication.
User statistics are sent to our customers on a monthly basis. In addition,
the library, institute can create and print user statistics by their own
with the help of the configuration system at any time.
The InfoTrac interface, known in more than 100 countries of the world and
highly regarded as easy to use and comfortable offers, of course, various
search criteria (such as keyword, subject, relevance, advanced search).
Further it offers to change the search screen due to the users' requests, to
link between our database and the libraries' OPAC, to link from the Gale
database to existing electronic journals on the library's SFX server.
A very comfortable and time saving feature is the so-called InfoMarks: this
is a persistant URL with which you can secure search results, these search
results can be send by e-mail to colleagues or students (very useful for the
exchange of search results on a specific topic or for the professors's
seminar preparation. InfoMarks is also very useful to create reading lists,
course packs, study guides a.s.o.; it allows to automate detailed
researches.

All Gale databases are subscription based and include unlimited number of
searches, downloads and printouts, user statistics, technical support. We do
offer presentations and trainings. It's a pleasure for us to set up free
trials for Gale databases, either for single institutions, for a consortia
and also for you and your colleagues to get a better and more precise idea
of our databases.
